The boys vs marvel

The Boys Ratings Leave Every Marvel Show in the Dust

Well, well, well, it looks like Phase 4 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe had a bit of a rough time, didn’t it? With box office results that left Marvel feeling a little under the weather, they decided to switch things up and focus on streaming. But, oh boy, did that backfire! Despite all the money and marketing behind Disney+’s Marvel series, it seems like they just couldn’t keep up with Amazon’s “The Boys.”

This series, which is known for being a little rough around the edges, was the most watched superhero series of 2022, leaving all of Marvel’s Disney+ offerings in the dust. And, let’s be honest, “The Boys” isn’t exactly the easiest show to watch. But, even with its tough subject matter, it’s still better than the lackluster shows Marvel was putting out.

But let’s talk about the big elephant in the room – Nielsen ratings. “The Boys” was the 11th most watched original streaming show of 2022 with 10.6 billion minutes viewed, and not a single show from Disney+ made the list! How embarrassing!

Meanwhile, over at Disney+, the streamer’s superhero shows failed to crack the top 15 original streaming series for 2022. “Moon Knight,” “Miss Marvel,” and “She-Hulk: Attorney at Law” were all released, but none of them were able to secure a spot on the list. And, even with “Miss Marvel” being crowned the best reviewed superhero show of 2022 by Rotten Tomatoes, it still had the lowest ratings. Talk about a disconnect between critics and audiences!

All of this just goes to show that despite having popular characters, a ton of money, and a strong marketing campaign, you just can’t beat a good show. And, it seems like Marvel just couldn’t keep up with the success of “The Boys.”

Oh, and let’s not forget about Netflix. Their CEO, Ted Sarandos, claimed that the streaming giant has never canceled a successful series. But, with Disney+ losing 1.5 billion dollars just in the past quarter, it’s clear that their superhero shows just weren’t cutting it.

So, it looks like Marvel is in for some bad news. Despite their best efforts, “The Boys” is sitting pretty as the king of the superhero series. Better luck next time, Marvel!
